As the industry’s top single-source provider of CNC machine tools, it’s a given that we’re dedicated to delivering CNC machines, drives, motors, encoders, spindles, and CNC controls of the highest quality. However, equipment alone often isn’t enough to help our customers solve their most difficult manufacturing challenges. That’s why we also offer cutting-edge machining technology, an expansive and supportive distribution network, and our collaborative Partners in THINC program. Because at Okuma we know that all of the industries we serve have one thing in common: when it comes to machining, there is absolutely no room for compromise. You can use Okuma machine in Aerospace, Defense, Automotive, construction, agriculture, Fluid power, oil & energy, medical, die and mold industries.

Toolmakers who use Okuma machine tools know that they’re sturdy, heavy CNC machines. That’s because we take no shortcuts with build quality. Okuma use high-quality cast iron in all our machines, and our castings are all naturally aged, with no artificial aging processes. We’ve done extensive research on the optimum web designs for castings and use those that provide a solid foundation which are best at preventing harmonics that lead to chatter. Some machines even incorporate a “hybrid way system” that combines a box way with linear roller guides, which ultimately provides the best of both way designs. Okuma OSP-P300 control is built using the Windows®-based, open-architecture platform. You can send production orders to your MRP systems right from the machine tool, track production with scanned barcodes, and generate reports to share with the management team. Since every Okuma machine is hand scraped on each mating surface, you can produce more parts over a longer timeframe. The result is increased accuracy, decreased costs, and maximized profitability for your operation. OSP suite enhances the operator experience by:

  • Improving overall operator efficiency
  • Enabling the search for manuals and documentation
  • Allowing operator access to productivity widgets and apps
  • Supporting multiple operators, and allowing each one to customize screens and setups
  • Shutting down non-cutting functions and accessories to save energy (with ECO suite)
  • Performing maintenance and inspections for long-term machine health and optimization

When machining with a 5-axis CNC machine tool, tiny geometric errors can result in quality issues for your finished parts. However, 5-Axis Auto Tuning removes this potential by compensating for any geometric errors through precise position measurements performed by the Intelligent Technology. While commissioning and general wear and tear can take a toll on the kinematic chain, the 5-Axis Auto Tuning system creates a perfect workpiece—and better yet, the intuitive software makes it easy to set up on your own.

MULTUS U5000 is one of Okuma’s latest product. MULTUS U5000 is a multitasking machine with an automatic tool changer and optional sub-spindle and lower turret. This 8 to 10-inch chuck class machine has a broad scope of machining functions and is the embodiment of power, speed, and process flexibility. With this machine, you can complete the work in one setup and with tools to spare in the ATC. The MULTUS U5000 has a 240° B-axis range with 12,000 rpm H1-milling spindle with dual function (L/M). The H1 dual function spindle head utilizes CAPTO C6 tooling and has a heavy duty 30 hp (intermittent) milling motor spindle. The base offering has 40 tools available via the ATC, with an option for 80 tools. The H1-turret has a 0.001 degree B-axis which is provided by a traveling column-type Y axis feed, providing powerful Y axis machining over the range of 11.81 inches. Both the left and right spindles are equipped with a full contouring C-axis, and the optional lower turret provides additional capability for increased throughput and process balance.

Pushing the evolution of manufacturing. That is Okuma mission.
